This recipe from Reinhard and Kate’s old friend Jens Eckhardt of Hamburg, Germany, is very good with garlic mashed potatoes.

This dish always reminds us of the good dinners we had with Mama and Papa Bohme and the family. Rouladen is a very typical German recipe. If you can, make it the day ahead for the flavor to develop. Serve with red cabbage and raw potato dumplings or spatzle, a glass of beer or nice German wine. Wunderbar! German Soul-food!
